Vineyard Community Church is excited to host our first ever Art Show in our space on November 8 & 9 this Fall! The show is based on Jesus' question, "Who do you say I am?" Read on for all the details about the show and submitting an art piece.

When I first saw Jen Norton’s painting “But Who Do You Say That I Am?,” I immediately thought: I want to go to an exhibit where artists respond to the question the painting and Jesus invites us to answer. I felt so joyful imagining attending an exhibit where creatives of all types offered their response to Jesus’ question. 

Then I felt a divine nudge: “Why don’t you create the show you want to see?” Me? I didn’t have the resources or know-how! Yet the invitation persisted, and through a series of encouraging responses to my doubts, I was convinced the Creator was ready to make this show a reality if we said yes to creating it with Him.

 Contribute a response to Jesus’ question, “Who do you say I am?”

There are no limits on how you creatively respond to this question. Any 2-D, 3-D (including video, culinary, fiber art), poetry, writing, or performance work will be considered. Basically, if you can make it, it can be submitted.  

• Submission Deadline: September 20, 2024.

Even if you’ve never considered sharing your work in a show, we’d love to have you participate. We hope you say yes to this invitation to share your answer to who you say He is.

• Exhibition Dates: November 8 & 9, 2024. 
• Live Works will be performed/presented on the evening of November 8, 2024

Can you submit more than one piece?

• Yes! We just ask that you submit a form for each entry. This helps us for planning purposes. 

Do I need to drop off my piece on September 20th when the submissions are due? (Submission Form Confusion)

• No. On September 20th your submission form (entry form) is due. In this form you tell us all about the piece that you have created (including photos, video, etc (depending on the entry). We will share more information about the Artwork delivery process happening the week of October 14th directly with those who have submitted artwork to the show.

Am I answering who Jesus says I Am? Or who I say Jesus is?

• This art show invites you to create an art piece that answers the question that Jesus asks His disciples, “Who do you say I am?” We invite you to enlarge our understanding of Jesus by sharing YOUR answer to his question, “Who Do You Say I Am” through your own creative expression.

Do I need to figure out how to display my work?

• No need to figure that out! We will be working on that in the time between drop-off and opening night.  

Is there an entry fee?

• No, there is no fee to enter this art show

Is there a prize/judging?

• No, this is a celebration of the creativity found in all! And of Jesus! So, We won’t be giving any special acknowledgment to a “winner” but rather celebrating our collective creativity and knowing. 

Can we buy or sell pieces?

• We are not permitting sales during the show. However, if you are interested in purchasing a piece, we can collect your information and pass it along to the artists. 

Is there an age limit?

• No. Children are welcome to submit. Just like adults, they need to be able to articulate their answer to the question of who they know Jesus to be to complete the entry form.
